世界上首臺顯微鏡誕生于16世紀，它的原理是使用光學系統將樣品放大以進行分析。最早的顯微鏡利用自然光或聚光燈來照射樣品，觀察者一邊觀察一邊將看到的內容徒手繪制出來。后來，各式各樣的顯微鏡陸續問世，比如熒光顯微鏡、電子顯微鏡和掃描顯微鏡等等。
隨著攝影術的發明，1900年，科學家在利用顯微鏡的透鏡對樣品成像的同時，拍攝出世界上首張光學顯微照片。時至今日，經過不斷發展，現在的顯微照相系統已經能夠同時拍攝多張顯微照片，然后組合形成超高分辨率的清晰影像。通過不斷改進光學鏡組、提高自動化水平和位置反饋精度，未來的顯微照相技術必將迎來更大的進步。
3DHISTECH公司位于匈牙利布達佩斯，它設計和生產了世界上運行速度最快、通量最高的全自動全視野數字切片掃描儀 — P1000。
P1000是一臺高精度掃描顯微鏡，大型病理學實驗室可以用它采集醫學樣品切片的超高分辨率圖像，該設備一次性裝載切片后便可實現連續兩天的全自動化工作，無需人工干預。這款新一代數字切片掃描儀基于3DHISTECH業已成熟的技術所開發，是第一款集成了位置反饋光柵和磁編碼器的掃描儀，工作效率再創新高。
3DHISTECH公司首席技術官Viktor Varga詳細介紹道：“P1000一個工作輪次可以掃描1000張切片。它主要由兩部分組成：一臺數字切片掃描儀[顯微鏡]和一個高通量自動切片載臺。兩大組件并行工作，提升了整個系統的效率。其顯微鏡有三個物鏡，可以進行浸沒式及干式掃描。P1000可以滿足一般病理學或生物學實驗室的所有掃描需求。”
顯微鏡的三根軸上都裝有搭配RTLC-S不銹鋼鋼帶柵尺的VIONiC數字增量式光柵系統，自動切片載臺的拾放機械臂上則裝有LA11絕對式磁編碼器系統。這些光柵及磁編碼器不僅保證了設備的精度和重復性，而且提高了P1000的運行速度，使其性能遠超同類產品。
挑戰

P1000的研發團隊有一個明確的目標：顯著提升大型病理學實驗室的工作效率。他們發現，要實現這一目標，掃描系統必須具有高通量，而且高度自動化。
在掃描過程中，放有樣品的載物臺沿X軸和Y軸水平移動，同時鏡筒垂直移動以調節焦距。放大倍數越大，要求的精度就越高，這樣才能確保精確地拼接多張顯微照片，從而生成一幅超高分辨率圖像。
